There is a new addition to the Indexes that show Probabilities (Prob) or Confidence (Conf) in the Index outcome. Probabilities are used when there is only one winner for an Index, ie Super Bowl Champions. Confidence is used when there can be multiple winners for an Index, ie NHL 2006-2007 100 Point. I'm not quite sure if I have the right scale for confidence so it may be changing as stocks do.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K.

I've made a minor change to the quote pages for each stock to now show the prediction probability of that stock. This was visible in the index view for each respective stock but people wanted it more visible when looking at each stock.

I've created RealityMarkets.com stock widgets for the indexes. The widgets will show the top five stocks in an index and also show a little description of the index. These widgets can be placed pretty much anywhere on the web, home pages, myspace pages, blogs, etc. To add a widget, click the Get Widget button below the stock charts on an index page. You will be taken to WidgetBox where you can fill in the details of where you want to put it.

I have updated the referral system so that you can use generic referral links to email your friends in your own email program and still get credit. The generic links can also be used for posting on websites and blogs. On the referral page there are two links listed. One that takes people to the RealityMarkets.com home page and the other that takes people to the account open page. Use what ever link you prefer for your situation.

I made some changes to the index pages to make them a little easier to read and also show you what stocks you currently hold in your portfolio. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

The new system should be uploaded within the next 24 hours and following that the new stocks will be added. Currently there are 20 new stocks loaded and ready to be turned on. There should be another larger batch coming a day or so after that.

Today I am announcing the that RealityMarkets will now be available in a beta version on Facebook. The first version is a basic application that will allow you to see your portfolio, make trades, see quotes, show your performance on your profile page and view the indexes and sectors. As I start getting feedback I'll add features and make changes.

Normally I don't like to discuss new features until I'm ready to launch them but I've been pretty excited about this as I've been working on it so I figured I would give a heads up to everyone. By far the most requested feature to RealityMarkets.com has been short sales, but unfortunately I wasn't able to introduce it before now due to limitations in the previous pricing system. Now that the new system is up I've been revisiting Short Sales and after some work I'm happy to report the addition is nearly finished. I'm hoping to roll it out in the next few days after I wrap up the testing.

Some of you may have noticed a change this week to the account portfolio page that added a short position category to your portfolio and were wondering how to actually short a stock. Starting today you will be able to enter short orders on the trade screens where all your other orders are entered. Just select it from the drop down menu where you normally select buy or sell. A Short is how you open a short position and a Cover is how you close out a short position. Beware, if you Cover a short position and the price is higher than when you opened the short position, you will owe money to close it out.

As you can already tell, there's been some visual site updates to the site but I've also added some behind the scenes changes.

A recap of the changes.

1. New homepage graphics and modified layout.

2. Broke up the comment and stock summaries on the homepage into tabs accessible via the "View: Market Activity | Comments & Site News" links below the main graphic.

3. Improved side navigation. Clicking on the word in the navigation menu will take you to a page showing all the index questions related to that category. If you liked the old way with the drop down menus, just click the plus sign at the end of each category and you will get the original drop down menu.

4. Improved the input fields for stock comments and trader comments.

5. Comment email notifications. When someone responds to a comment you left on a stock or trader profile you will receive an email telling you so. You can turn this feature off in your account info page.

6. Payout email notifications. When a stock you own pays out you will receive an email notification highlighting what you made or lost similar to the trading messages you already receive. You can turn this feature off in your account info page as well.

I've updated the index names in the navigation menu while still preserving the longer name when you view the index. I'm hoping this improves the navigation and makes it easier to find things at a glance. Let me know what you think.

For those that have been trading for a while you'll remember I used to do prizes on RealityMarkets and that I've also been saying for a while that prizes would be returning. They are back today. Right now I am giving away 3, $10 gift certificates to iTunes to the top 3 traders from the last 14 days as of the trading close on Tuesday. The list is attached.

Going forward I hope to do smaller prizes to more people more frequently than just one large prize every few months. I also want to give prizes away for different categories, ie most trades, biggest loser, most referrals, etc. At this point I'm not quite sure if I am going to do formal contests or just do random dates.
