The probability of Marion Hossa passing the 100 pt mark tonight is about ~40%.
One game remains in the regular season. He currently stands at 98 pts.
In 31 of 81 games this season, Hossa has scored 2 or more points (or 38% of the time) including 3 of the last 7 times they've played the Tampa Bay (or 43%), who they are playing in the final match-up tonight.
That's roughly the same probability of being dealt one pair of anything in 5 card draw or stud poker (~42%)
So, the question is: Do you feel lucky?
He's never scored 100 pts before in a single season, but I know if I had 98 pts going into the final game I'd be trying my damndest to get 2 more points that night. But, on the other hand, the game doesn't really mean anything, since both Atlanta & Tampa Bay have made the playoffs. So, maybe Hossa will want to save his energy for the post-season,... but that may equally true for the Tampa defense.
And, Tampa defense... well, pretty much sucks! They've averaged more than 3 goals against them per game this season. Their "best" goalie had a total meltdown last night, giving up 4 goals in just the first period!
So, I'd bet my last dollar that Hossa scores at least 1 pt tonight and if Tampa's defense is off again tonight, then, I think, the odds of him getting 2 may actually be better than 50/50.
